The Stinson Crash 1937

The Stinson Crash 1937

A Documentary and Pictorial History Book

This story has great historical significance, because in 1937, the event captured the imagination of the Australian public, as evidenced by the newspaper stories from all across Australia.

The book identifies members of the local community who were involved in the rescue of the crash survivors, John Seymour Proud and Joseph Robert Binstead. It goes beyond the search and rescue operation, covering much of the evidence given at the subsequent Coroner's Inquest, and also the Air Crash Investigation Committee Report

The book has been substantially compiled by David Mason,Society Archivist/Librarian and published by the Historical Society and available at a cost of $20-

The Museum also has a Stinson crash Exhibit. Among the artefacts is the original thermos flask used by Binstead to retrieve water for Proud
