Beaudesert Genealogy

Skeletons in the cupboard?
Australian Royalty in your tree?
Let us help you find out.

Thursday is Genealogy day at Beaudesert Historical Museum.

Beaudesert Genealogy Inc. is now operating out of Westwood Cottage at the Beaudesert Historical Museum.

Our team of experienced family history researchers can show you how to get started, where to go for information, and provide forms for you to record the results of your searches.

We are a friendly, helpful group formed to give assistance to members of the public who are researching their family history and need a little help.

Many of our members have been researching for over 20 years and are only too happy to share their knowledge. We have considerable resources in both Genealogy and Local History. To become part of our group, it is necessary to join the Beaudesert Historical Society, and after your application has been accepted by the Society you will then be welcome to come and conduct your own research.

Members will be on hand to speak with you on Thursdays, although access to research collections is only available to members. Alternatively, you may choose to lodge a research enquiry here. A fee of $20.00 will apply. The Museum is a not-for-profit organisation and all research is done by volunteers. Any money paid for research helps cover operating costs.

For further information contact the Beaudesert Historical Museum 07 5541 3740 and we will return your call.

Any queries, please contact the Museum on 07 5541 3740

Membership

Membership is $15 per year per person, we now offer a double membership of $20.00 for the Historical Museum which includes membership of Beaudesert Genealogy Inc.

After joining a copy of the Smoke Signal (the Museum Newsletter) will be e-mailed to you. Non members who wish to do their own research may do so once their membership has been approved at the Beaudesert Historical Museum.

Do you have any photos of your ancestors? What information have you been able to find out about them?

Details of their marriage, their funerals, what ship they may have arrived on, or information that may have been published in the local newspapers. We can show you how to obtain some of this if it is available.

Thinking of having your DNA tested, or have you had it done and now not sure how to find your way through the minefield?

Several of our members have had their DNA tested, and can help you begin your search using this fascinating new genealogical tool. It is bound to throw up some surprises and to confirm or disprove some long held family myths.
